January 22, 2007 -- Welcome to Enrill.net! This website hosts some of my favorite links, some game materials I designed and pieces of fiction I wrote. World of Darkness Revival

January 22, 2007

A surprising turn of events just occurred in my gaming life.

First, against all odds, I actually pick up Promethean: The Created in a gaming store, even though I was certain I wouldn't touch the new World of Darkness with a ten-foot pole. I read the game and fall in love with it, ordering all the other games of the series in the process.

Second, several of my French-speaking friends contact me online. We talk about old times, share some memories, and we all find ourselves wanting to role-play again in a form or another.

The result? The rebirth of The Ballade of the Hanged, our Paris by Night Chronicle, as a play-by-post game on Les Petits Potes. I am presently deep into the design of this second take on a modern Paris populated by classic supernatural creatures of Gothic literature and created a new gaming blog relating the events of this Chronicle in English for everyone to enjoy.

I will obviously keep posting about our D&D 3.5 Ptolus campaign on the Praemal Tales and catch up with the events of the Seven Spires campaign. Stay tuned for more updates! -Benoist

Enrill.net Reborn!

October 20, 2006

Once upon a time, there was a place over the Internet for both French-speaking and English-speaking gamers. This place was called Enrill.net, with its twin message boards, the Duath O'Magdhn, Spire of the Awekened, for its English-speaking members, and the Duath Nangorath, Spire of Introspection, for its French-speaking mavericks.

This place lived and died, abruptly, in December 2004. After the disaster occurred, new message boards were created to replace what was lost. They survived for a time but not for long: each of us were taking care of our own lives, our own projects. It was time for everyone to turn the page.

The page has now been turned. Enrill.net is dead. Long live Enrill.net!

My name is Benoist Poiré. I am also known as "Odhanan" on various gaming message boards. This new and streamlined Enrill.net will host some of the game materials I want to share with everyone who is a role-playing game fan and enjoys such games as Dungeons & Dragons, RuneQuest, The World of Darkness and affiliated games, Stormbringer/Hawkmoon (RPGs based on Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion series) and more. I have been running games for the better part of two decades, have been using a wide variety of different role-playing games during all these years, and am still learning a lot more about the hobby we love every day. I intend to share on this site some of the things I came up with, either as inspirations for your own games, or for you to use right off the bat, as you see fit.

I also have three blogs over the Internet. Two of them are related to role-playing games: First, the Seven Spires is a campaign blog relating the events of an hybrid game of Dungeons & Dragons and Arcana Evolved we played with my friends over two years. Second, the Praemal Tales which relate the events of our weekly Ptolus game we started in September 2006. Third, "Just Bare Thoughts: A French Gamer in Canada": this is a personal blog where I write about daily events and share some of my thoughts on a variety of subjects - for short, a "classic" blog for people interested in that sort of thing.

It is also a place where you will be able to read some of my writings, most likely some materials I wrote some time ago and still like for one reason or another and new pieces I will write in the near future. Whether these pieces will be fiction, poetry or something else entirely, I do not know at this point.

Enjoy your visit, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to drop me a line: see my Contact page for more details.
